Glitch Hub is now introducing Gaming Generations, the largest open gaming event in the Nordic region, aiming to bring parents and children together through shared gaming experiences.
One of the people behind is Peter Liljestrand, a well-known entrepreneur in gaming and sports rights, and the founder of Starstable. The first event will take place at the beginning of the Easter break, from April 12–14, 2025, at Westfield Mall of Scandinavia. This marks the first event of its kind, with ambitions to launch a series of initiatives promoting intergenerational gaming experiences.
"In children's sports activities, parents are often involved in many ways. However, in gaming and esports, parental presence and participation are often non-existent. We want to change that with Gaming Generations," says Peter Liljestrand.
With Gaming Generations, Glitch Hub aims to break down barriers and create an easy way for children and parents to share gaming experiences. While many parents actively participate in their children's extracurricular activities, gaming often remains a solitary hobby without parental involvement. The event seeks to demonstrate how gaming can be a family activity, just like football, hockey, or horseback riding.
"We want to show that gaming is an activity that the whole family can engage in. Gaming Generations is about fostering understanding and community, giving parents a chance to experience what is today the biggest hobby for many children and teenagers," says Viktor Maisey, one of the event's initiators.
For three days, Westfield Mall of Scandinavia will transform into a digital playground for all ages. Children, teenagers, parents, and even grandparents can participate in activities and competitions suited for all skill levels. Gaming Generations provides a unique opportunity for families to strengthen their bonds through gaming and shared experiences.
The event is supported by OMEN and HyperX as main sponsors, both committed to making gaming more inclusive and social for all generations.
"Gaming is an incredible platform for community and learning, and it’s here to stay. At OMEN and HyperX, we see Gaming Generations as one of the most important events of the year, and we’re excited to help more families experience the joy of gaming together," says Line Bermann, Marketing Manager for Consumer and Gaming at OMEN and HyperX Nordic.
The event is completely free and open to everyone, welcoming those staying in the Stockholm area during the Easter break. The event kicks off on April 12 and lasts for three days, offering a unique chance for families to spend time together, discover new games, and compete in activities for all ages.
"Bring your kids and teenagers. Stay for an hour or three. Step into your child’s gaming world! What’s the worst that can happen? That you’ll have fun!" concludes Viktor Maisey, who sees this initiative as the beginning of something big, soon expanding beyond Sweden.
